True to it's origins,  the Company continues to be operated and managed soley for the benefit of its policy holders

In February 1882 a group of shipowners based in Sunderland formed a Mutual Insurance Company to insure against risks of their trade. Today, the Company is recognised as a world leader in the insurance of commercial fishing vessels, small passenger and charter craft, tugs, barges and harbour craft and also the insurance of aquaculture. True to it's origins, there are no outside shareholders and the Company continues 125 years later to be operated and managed soley for the benefit of its policy holders

A comprehensive range of covers is provided. Hull and machinery covers protect Owners against damage claims and total loss, with Protection and Indemnity cover against legal liability in the event of an accident occurring. Defence cover is also available to the membership to provide legal assistance and technical expertise.
